We are just a few days away from Sunday 19 June, the annual mobile feast dedicated to the Father. The Day or Father's Day is celebrated every year on the third Sunday of June in Greece, while in other countries the date varies. As you already know, the day is not as well known as the one dedicated to Mother. That doesn't mean that if you feel the need to offer a bouquet to your father, you shouldn't do it. Such a gesture will give him great pleasure and will show him in practice that you feel grateful for all he has offered you so far. In any case, of course, the choice is not as easy as the one that has the mother as the recipient. Rarely does a man talk about his favorite colors or his favorite flowers. Therefore, the task is difficult but not impossible. Especially considering that below you will find all the necessary tips to choose the best one.

The story behind the Father's Day celebration

The first time Father's Day was officially organized was in 1908 in West Virginia, USA by Grace Golden Clayton. Her purpose was to organize a celebration in honor of the 210 dead fathers who died in a mine. An important part of her idea was the Mother's Day celebration, which was held for the first time in the same year. Of course, the Day was not well received and two years later activist Sonora Dodd, wanting to honour her father, introduced a bill in the US Congress to formalize Father's Day. After several unsuccessful attempts to elevate the holiday, in 1966 President Lyndon Johnson issued the first presidential executive order establishing the third Sunday in June as Father's Day.

While for most florists the Carnations is the official flower of the Mother's Day, roses are the official flower of Father's Day. The choice was made by the activist Sonora Dodd, mentioned earlier. In fact, in some countries, red roses roses symbolize living fathers and the white ones represent fathers who are "gone".

According to experts, fathers and men in general prefer flowers that look as natural as possible. The Orchids, the sunflowers, the daisies and the chrysanthemum are just a few of the things they'll really love. As for the plants, the bamboo and the bonsai are just as good a choice as a bouquet. As for the colours, avoid the candy colours! It's best to stay away from pale shades and focus on white flowers or those with bright colors. Although colors should not be paired with gender, it's best not to choose a pink one. This is at least a safe choice.

Whatever gift you give, write a card. This will express why this man, your father, is special to you. Don't forget that your flowers will eventually wilt. The words on your card, however, will stay forever!
